Menu planning for braces

We know you don’t want to be making separate meals for everyone in the family, so here are some easy recipes that will be good for the whole family as well as your child with braces.
Borders may be able to use some of these in their kitchenettes.
On the week the braces go on and the days after each appointment these tips will be particularly useful.

Tips

  • Keep your blender on the kitchen bench for fast and easy-to-make super snacks that won’t hurt your mouth. Borders may be allowed to keep a blender for group use in their kitchenette (only use during appropriate hours)
  • Make up enough meals at dinner time for leftovers to be used in lunch boxes the next day
  • Porridge mix can be made by the box in advance, so it’s ready to eat each morning

Annoying food

These foods are fine to eat, but we hear from our families that they can be annoying – they get caught in the braces, and are hard to get out. So it’s up to you if you want to eat them with your braces on:

  • Sushi
  • Rice
  • Pepitas
  • Nuts
